I will refer to this company as Noritake and I reference all company names and backstamps. This is one of the most successful - if not - the most successful company in manufacturing and exporting porcelain wares from Japan. This company had so many names and so many backstamps - it is undaunting. I have recently updated this webpage and made a lot of revisions including adding more backstamps and information.

Noritake made porcelain wares for the domestic and foreign market. Many of the Japanese domestic backstamps are not well known in the West nor are the various company names these wares were made under.

Recently, I have updated information on Noritake's Maple Leaf Hand Painted Nippon backstamp - yes this mark does belong to Noritake - and it was found along with another backstamp, Noritake Nippon, used in 1911. The Maple Leaf backstamp was first used around 1875. Based on the latest information, the Maple Leaf backstamp dates between 1875-1911. There are some Japanese experts who state the Maple Leaf mark was first used in 1891.
